Youth Sustainable Water Resources Education and Hub Development in APEC Region

 

 

 

 

Program Implementation in 2015 and 2016

 

1. A website will be setup to promote the project within the APEC region to raise awareness by the general public.

2. A 10-days workshop, divided into indoor and outdoor activity segments, will be conducted in early November. Courses will consist of water and related ecosystems; drinking and water supply: quantity and quality; management and protection strategies for specific uses of water; sediments, reservoirs and flood management, and so forth. Experts from Japan and engineers will share their experiences; Industry, government, and citizenship issues will be discussed.

3. For outdoor activity, a tour to Chia-Nan Irrigation Canal and Irrigation Association and Tsengwen Reservoir will be arranged. A tour to Pingtung Agriculture Biotechnology Park and the groundwater artificial recharge lake is expected to broaden participants’ perspective on sustainable rainwater utilization.

4. In early February 2016, a 7-days short training program will be offered following the workshop training. The objectives of the program will be providing a platform for each economic member to discuss how much lessons could be learnt in their experiences and the strategies for their future. On this, experts from different irrigation associations and Taiwan Agriculture Irrigation Association and invited professors from economic members will share their knowledge in this training program.
